Shocking Video Captures Point Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman who rushed to the help of a colleague that was assaulted by a blade-wielder was granted the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.
"Policeman attacked," the constable stated over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera footage shared by the police department depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.
He collided with the officer who tripped and dropped to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement even though being continually attacked with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "I need something on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell suffered two open wounds to his throat and more wounds to his arms and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced slash wounds.
Officials stated Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his fellow officer's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel arrived.
The latest recognition follows after the trio of policemen were granted internal Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional Police Federation in April 2024.
They further earned a North West Valor Recognition in summer 2024.
"The responses of the entire team ultimately rescued themselves and meant no members of the public experienced any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, per authorities.
