Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending corner before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
